Just rewards for Just a Whim who put some good performances in good company to good use to win this class 4 maiden hurdle going away. The Fontwell Novice H'Cap she ran in at the start of May has now thrown up 3 wins from as many races.
We mentioned in the Look Ahead on Sunday how we'd monitor the ground and despite the good to soft conditions and showers on the day we were pleasantly surprised how well the course walked on arrival. All systems go.
A word for Tabitha who would have had the ride were it not for a fall in the second race on the card, we wish her a speedy recovery. Charlie Price stepped in for the spare after riding LOVEYOUTOTHEMOON for us at Worcester the day before.
A patient ride from Charlie who tracked any moves from the market leaders on the first two circuits before moving to challenge on the long home straight. We know she'd be staying on at the end of the 2m7f trip so looked set for a good run when they turned for home and such was the case, moving well clear at the last and running out an eventual 27 length winner.
held up towards rear, closed before 8th, led approaching 2 out, went clear before last, easily (9/1)
We're fast approaching a year since we sent out our first runner with a full trainer's licence. Whilst getting our head in front is a fantastic result for the whole yard we're even more made up for the owners who have supported us throughout. As always, a fine team effort.
JUST A WHIM is in fine form this morning and we may look for an opportunity for a quick turnaround.
